The Cole Fundraiser Cole came home Tuesday, August 7th. He is very happy to be back with his brothers, sisters, mommy and foster family. Cole remains on a feeding tube and is struggling to gain weight and regain his strength. Luckily, he has a lot of very special people supporting him! August 6, 2007: Cole is progressing every day. He remains on a feeding tube, but it’s not holding him back from running, jumping and playing with toys. We don’t yet know if Cole will be able to eat orally; at this point, the doctors are focusing on Cole regaining his strength. Cole loves to get visitors and is the hit of hospital. We have been informed that he does not spend much time in his crate! Cole will come home in the next few days if he continues to progress. Please keep your thoughts and prayers coming! August 2, 2008: Cole is regaining his strength and getting very spunky! He is giving kisses to the hospital staff and his foster family every chance he gets. Cole is happy and trying to play as best he can. He has responded well to being fed through a feeding tube. The hospital staff is going to begin to attempt to feed Cole through his mouth today, so please keep your thoughts, energy and prayers coming. This is Cole's biggest test--to see if he will be able to eat. We can't thank you enough for all of your support. Cole is a seven week old wonderful and sweet little husky baby whose strength and will to live has amazed us all over the last few days. Sunday, July 29th, Cole was rushed to the hospital in apparent respiratory distress. Two days later, he received emergency surgery for a hiatel hernia, which had created in Cole a condition called megaesophagus, where he could no longer eat. Cole is in critical condition. He has a long road ahead, but we are hoping that with his courage, and the prayers and support of so many, he will make it through. Cole's medical bills are expected to exceed $5,000. Please support Husky House in our attempts to save this precious little life. Cole began his life with his 8 sisters and brothers and wonderful mommy "Hope" on a farm in Tennessee. Hope had been rescued from being euthanized at a local shelter, and had her nine babies shortly thereafter. All ten of them were brought to their foster home in New Jersey on June 30th. The puppies were tiny and flea infested. Since then, Cole, his siblings and Hope have thrived in their foster home. They are happy, healthy dogs who love to play, wrestle and be with one another. Theirs is a story of triumph against all odds. Husky House is a non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible. We can only survive, and continue to save lives every day, with your help. If you would like to make a donation towards Cole's medical expenses, you can send a check (made out to "Siberian Husky Rescue") to Husky House, PO Box 6533, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 or donate now online. Thank you for your prayers and generosity!
