What the Husky House Does Snow arrived to the the House the beginning of March and had all of us in shock. Snow was emaciated, diagnosed with stage 4 heartworm, and is epileptic. This poor soul had also been kept in a filthy environment which developed into a skin bacterial infection all over his body and caused him to lose most of his fur. He was rushed to our neurologist where he spent over a week, receiving an MRI and Spinal Tap as well as being treated by our dermatologist. The results revealed adult heartworm in the brain and lesions from possible strokes. All will heal over time but he most likely will always have seizures and will possibly need to remain on Phenobarbital (treatment for seizures) for the rest of his life. Snow had no expression on his face when he first arrived...our little man had given up, his spirit broken...leaving all of us here at the House heartbroken at what Snow had endured. We refused to give up and continued to provide TLC and encourage him to keep going. Slowly the sparkle in his eyes returned, a little spunk in his step emerged and sure enough that husky spirit had come through. Snow now plays with his toys, woo woo's at us and plays with the pack everyday. His progress so far has amazed us and will continue to improve. Check back often to see his progress. Dogs like Snow are the heart and soul of Husky House. We hope to count on your support so we can continue our work. Together, dogs like Snow and so many others can have a second chance at life.
