Mya came to the House on April 6, 2008. She has a bundle of energy just like most husky pup's her age have. Mya plays A LOT and gets along with all dogs of all sizes. Please email lorraine@huskyhouse.org for more information.
N.S.A.L. America Helps the House
It was unseasonably hot, almost 90 degrees, for the adoption event at PetSmart in East Hanover on June 1, 2008. Fortunately, Lorraine made arrangements to "borrow" a conversion van from the North Shore Animal League (N.S.A.L.). So while potential adopters and Husky House volunteers endured the heat, ten homeless huskies and fellow K9's, including Lucas, Brooklyn, Misa, Momo, Storm, remained comfortable and on display in the air conditioned van. Many thanks to N.S.A.L. America and their volunteer driver for making this event possible.

Membership Categories: Willing to Travel "Over the past five years I have volunteered my time to assist Husky House rescue huskies and find loving homes for them. It is a worthwhile cause and something I truly enjoy doing. I learned of a husky puppy named Sheba who was being temporarily sheltered at the Humane Society of Warren County in Front Royal, Virginia. On June 7, 2008, I offered to take the trip from my home in Long Island to Virginia to transport Sheba to New Jersey, where her potential new home awaited. I wanted to arrive at Fort Royal by 8 AM so I left my home at 3 AM to avoid traffic. I grabbed some tea and snacks to wake me up and it was smooth sailing across the hundreds of miles I drove. Upon my arrival at the Humane Society I was introduced to Sheba; a happy, healthy and friendly pup whose pure white fur gathered around her head like a baby's bonnet. I spent some time with the staff discussing Sheba's future and preparing the adoption papers. During the drive back Sheba napped peacefully and I took her out |
for short walks when I stopped to get gas or stretch my legs. We arrived at Mike's Feed Farm in New Jersey in the afternoon. They were holding an adoption event and Sheba was to meet her prospective new family. Driving back to Long Island I felt happy knowing that I played a part in helping Sheba with her steps toward finding a new forever home. Eddie Stepinski"

Broadway Barks The Husky House was in attendance at the 10th Annual Broadway Barks Adoption Event on Saturday, July 12th, which took place in Shubert Alley, right in the heart of Times Square. This was HH's fifth straight year participating in the adopt-a-thon hosted by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters. The event drew in thousands of visitors, from pet lovers to theater goers to tourists just walking by to catch a glimpse of the excitement. HH was accompanied up to the stage by Loretta Ables Sayre from Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific." Ms. Sayre introduced our five dogs who attended that day, Misa, Snow, Stoli, Mya and poncho. They each received a warm round of applause as they stood up on the stage hoping to find their forever homes. The Husky House was able to raise $600 through our best selling magnets and generous donations which will go towards our animals in need of love and care. We would like to thank Broadway Barks for inviting us to another successful event. Project Hope Project Hope is a special project of Husky House, Inc. with the goal of saving dogs |
from high kill shelters in the deep South and transporting them to safety with Husky House. Rescuers from the South have told us that between 95% and 98% of the dogs in shelters are killed. Pet overpopulation is an epidemic. This shocked us into immediate action. Husky House has saved many precious live already.
Since April 2008, Project Hope has
saved the lives of 31 rescues.
The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save.

Our little girl Honey passed away around 7 PM on June 11th, 2008. She was the sweetest little girl who loved everyone and will be missed dearly.
You were such a tiny boy with the heart of a lion. I wish we would have found you sooner. I hope your last year with us was as joyful for you as it was for us. Rest in Peace little man...we will never forget you. We will see you again in time at the Bridge. A huge thank you to Lucy for opening your heart and home to our little Yogi. We couldn't have asked for a better mommy for him. We are forever grateful to you for giving Yogi a wonderful year and a family that loved him as much as we did. |
