Senior Male Siberian Husky / Mixed

live in upstate New York (near West Point) and need to find a home for my loving Siberian Husky - Jasper. He is a purebred which I have papers and is a loving, enjoyable, family pet. It breaks my heart to have to give him up but we are retiring to Southern Florida and I just cannot bring the dog with us since we are moving to a retirement community which does not allow pets. He is affectionate and warm. Loves kids. Is very gentle. Takes food gently, not destructive in house or out, not a digger. Loves being outside. Sleeps on our deck on his bed most nights (depending on weather). Loves to hike. Take him hiking every weekend and we walk twice a day. He is house broken, does not need to be crated. Does not get up on furniture but will if you want him too! He will be 9 yrs old this year (August). I have two blue eyes, neutered and microchiped. He is good with other animals, as we have had a cat, ferrett and another dog with him over the years. He is an alpha male or tries to be. Not too bad with sharing with the exception of his food. I would love to find a family to take him in who will give him as much love and attention that we have and will play with him, walk and hike with him. I want to find a family outside the New York area since they are more likely to have the room and space for a husky. (Not city dwellers) Please note, that at this time, Husky House does not adopt out of the immediate NY/NJ area. The minimum age for adopters is 23 years old. You must reside within a one hour drive from either NYC or from Bridgewater NJ. We DO NOT do long distance adoptions because we do home visits prior to the pup going to its new home. We do not adopt out Siberian puppies (under 1 year of age) unless you have prior Siberian experience or have researched the breed thoroughly. We DO NOT place in homes that rely on the invisible/electric fence as the sole means of containment. If your yard is fenced in - your fence must be at least 5 feet tall.
