Between the exhaustion of labor and a severe infection, she has been through more than any pup should have to endure. Toodles spent her life chained outside on a 3-foot lead with no shelter, until the day she finally broke free. Meet Maverick! Maverick is a friendly, fluffy, all-white husky. Sadly, Maverick did not have a good home environment earlier in his life, but was rescued by Husky House. He's now become friends with several of our volunteers and loves going for car rides and getting hash browns and bacon at the Dunkin drive through. He's also attended local concerts and is friendly to people who love dogs and pet him respectfully.  His ideal adopter is probably a couple or single person. That person is someone who loves him and spoils him for the fluffy white dog he is. Or, it's someone who loves taking him on adventures. In either case, Maverick will need to respect that person's presence and authority. He is a proud alpha dog, and would gladly stand up for you if the need ever came. Meet Lizzie! Lizzie is a female husky who was surrendered from her previous owner to a shelter and was then pulled by Husky House. She enjoys playing and being pet by volunteers and is good with other dogs her size. She also knows the Sit command! Lizzie does have some resource guarding of food in her kennel and would do best with an adoptive family who is willing to help her work on this. Meet Archie! Archie is a male Pomeranian who was rescued from being found left in a dumpster. Now safe at Husky House, Archie is looking for his loving forever home. Unfortunately, Archie has had a few seizures since arriving at Husky House, so he takes medication twice daily to help manage them. Poor Archie is very nervous around people, which is understandable given his history. He does not go out of his way to snap, but may growl or get snappy when people do not respect his boundaries (e.g. try to pick him up when he is uncomfortable). Azul was one of those New York City Street kids, just a year-old pup when he was saved by Husky House. Azul is very smart and picks his humans to love. He is a large, handsome boy with a strong personality. He will need an experienced owner who is patient and will provide him with the training he needs to be the best he can be. Azul would do best in an adult home (no children). Previous large dog experience a must to be considered for adoption. Please no homes with cats or small animals. Winter

Adult Female Siberian Husky

Meet Winter! Winter is a female husky looking for her loving forever home. She was brought to a county shelter by individuals who reported they “found” her, but upon further research they actually appeared to be her previous owners. They drove poor Winter to the shelter in the back of a hot U-Haul in the heat of the summer, and volunteers found her traumatized and cowering in the back of the vehicle. Winter was then pulled by Husky House and although she arrived very traumatized, she is starting to become more comfortable and is letting her true personality shine through. Winter is a happy, energetic dog who loves affection and playtimes, especially fetch! She also likes to play in the yard with her doggy friend Peppa. Meet Quincy! Quincy is a male husky who was found as a stray in Staten Island. His previous owners were found and did not want him back, and it appears they threw him out in the street as they posted they could no longer keep him the day before. Quincy is a loving, energetic husky who loves people and playing with other dogs his size. Quincy becomes anxious at the shelter or when crated, and injured himself due to the stress at the city shelter, which is why he was pulled by Husky House. Meet Larz! Larz was pulled from a municipal shelter to Husky House, and he is now looking for his loving forever home. He is vision impaired in one eye but gets around without issues. Larz is a friendly, silly boy who loves pets and playtimes. He even sometimes has a growly noise he makes when he is happy! Larz gets along with other dogs his size and is very playful, especially for his age! Willow

Young Female Pomeranian / Siberian Husky

Meet Willow! Willow is a pomsky puppy who is looking for her loving forever home. She was saved from a puppy mill along with her two littermates, and like many puppy mill survivors, is fearful of people but shows no aggression despite her fear. Willow is great with other dogs and needs a home with at least one well-adjusted dog to help her gain confidence and learn “how to dog.” Willow is learning to walk on leash would do best in a home with a very secure, fenced-in yard that she cannot escape from (e.g. no small holes under the fence that could be crawled through). We would recommend keeping Willow on a long leash when outside to make sure that she can be safely brought back inside when playtime is over. Willow is crate trained. Meet Lucky! Lucky is a male husky who was pulled by Husky House from a kill shelter when he was on the euthanasia list. Lucky is an energetic dog who loves to play! He does have some resource guarding tendencies with food and treats, so he would do best in an adult only home who can help him work on this. Lucky has been reported to do well with dogs and will be introduced to dogs at Husky House once he is more settled in and relaxed.
