Adoption and Rescue

Adult Male Labrador Retriever / Poodle (Standard) / Mixed

Meet Rufus! Rufus is a wire-haired labradoodle who was adopted from Husky House as a puppy, but unfortunately his owner passed away. If that wasn’t enough, his owner’s relative called animal control to put him to sleep! Thankfully, he was scanned and his microchip was traced back to us, so he is safely at Husky House waiting for his second loving forever home. Rufus is a happy, friendly dog who loves to give kisses and get butt scratches. He is good with some other dogs his size; he has never been tested with small dogs or cats. He will try to hunt ducks and chickens, so he needs a home without them. Rufus is also good with kids. He is energetic, and likes to play. Interested in adopting Rufus? Cindy Lou

Adult Female Siberian Husky

My name is Cindy Lou. I was an owner surrender along with my friend Alaska. The facility we were surrendered to had me all set up to be spayed but they realized I was not only pregnant but very pregnant. Thank goodness Lorraine from Husky House agreed to take me in since my pregnancy was close to coming to an end. Lorraine found me a foster and within 2 days of being at my foster I gave birth to 6 beautiful babies, 3 males and 3 females. My babies had a rough start due to me being malnourished and just a puppy myself. They think I was only around 10 months old. Nonetheless I gave birth like a champ and performed my motherly duties the best that I could for being such a young Mom. I have raised my babies and now it is time for me to find a permanent home of my own. I have been living with 5 other dogs and I have experienced cats also. I don’t mind them. I love to play with toys and my foster brother and sisters. I know how to sit and I like to sometimes talk to my humans. I love being brushed and am getting used to the bath. I still have a couple of puppy qualities that could use some correction. Please consider adopting me and giving me a forever home.

Maverick

Adult Male Siberian Husky

Meet Maverick! Maverick is a husky mix who is looking for his loving forever home. Maverick was abused by his previous owners, who dumped him at a kill shelter before he was pulled by Husky House. Understandably, he has difficulty trusting people in some situations and can resource guard his kennel as well as his food. You would, too, if you never knew when your next meal was coming and had never had a comfy place of your own to sleep! However, he is very friendly outside of his kennel and is super excited to meet new people in the yard or on walks. His ideal family needs to go slow and be patient, while building trust. As Maverick gets to know and trust volunteers who spend time with him, he lets down his guard and realizes he doesn’t have to protect himself - he even lets one of his favorite volunteers sit with him in his kennel and pet him while he’s eating meals! Maverick also loves playing with dogs his size, although he is easily excited and may need some redirection, especially when playing with female dogs.
