Young Male Collie / Mixed

This pet is no longer available for adoption.

Update, November 21, 2006 Duke is now a healthy 52 lbs, and is enjoying being the happy, bouncy pup he never got to be, and is going to his new home within the next few weeks. We cannot thank everyone enough for helping Husky House with the care of these two amazing dogs, with special thanks going to Karen Cassel of the Northern NJ Collie Rescue and Referal, who went above and beyond getting their story out to the Collie community, who supported them every step of the way! August 25, 2006 Meet Duke, a stunning sable, rough coated Collie, who is the victim of incredibly cruel people. He and his sister Cassie were purchased in a petstore, only to be starved nearly to death. Our Collie twins came to us because one of our Husky House volunteers intercepted them, before it was too late to save them. Duke and Cassies medical bills will be over a thousand dollars by the time we get them healthy, and we are in desperate need of donations for their care. Please consider helping out these two beautiful dogs in their time of need, even a little bit will help! Duke will not be ready to go to his new home for quite a few weeks, as he only weighs 34 lbs. at this time (male Collies should be approximately 65-70 lbs.), so we are only accepting applications at this time. He is heartworm negative, and will have bloodwork done to insure that there will be no long term damage done from the emaciation. He will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. We would prefer that potential adopters have some experience with the breed. He has a lovely temperament and can be quite the vocal guy! He is currently in foster care with three kids, two dogs and several cats.
