Mello

Adult Male Siberian Husky

This pet is no longer available for adoption.

Mello was brought to a kill shelter when he was found as a stray in NYC. He was scared and was going to be euthanized because he was biting his water bucket and crying in his kennel, which is no reason to die. He’s been in his foster home for 3 months and has been doing great! He has never met a dog he doesn’t like and is very submissive to them, always backing away from any conflict. He does not have any behavior issues - he does not resource guard and is not destructive when left alone. He is completely housebroken and lets you know when he wants to go out. He’s learned sit, paw and speak. He loves to play, so a home with another young dog would be best for him, but he’s also a great cuddler. He is still learning not to pull on a leash, especially at the start of a walk or when he sees something he wants. He does have a high prey drive, so a home with no kitties is needed. He isn’t scared of loud noises, thunder or fireworks, so he would be fine in a city or suburb. He wears a seatbelt in the car, because his whole goal is to ride in your lap, but he doesn’t get car sick. He’s still a little mouthy when he plays and is working on taking treats gently, so he would do better with kids who are dog savvy and know to make him sit for treats and to redirect with a toy if he starts playing rough. He loves going to the dog park and is well behaved at restaurants that allow dogs, and would make a great companion who can go everywhere. Apply to adopt Mello at huskyhouse.org.
