Young Male Siberian Husky / Mixed

Chi Chi is a red and white male, estimated three years old, Siberian Husky. He appears to be purebred. He is a cute little guy with dark amber eyes. He was taken in as a heartworm-positive stray at the Albany Humane Society in Southwest Georgia. He was badly matted and had fleas, worms, and the tips of his ears were missing from fly strikes. Chi Chi is a big, soft sweetheart. He loves nothing better than to lie on the couch, being brushed or petted for hours. He gets along well with my two dogs and will play with them quite nicely. He is not very confident when meeting new dogs and would probably be picked on by a dominant dog, so gradual introductions to a new home would be best. He is definitely an escape artist, he knows how to open gates, and will need a securely fenced yard. Chi Chi would not be a good choice for someone with cats. He is remarkably quiet for a husky, and though he does talk a little, he sleeps quietly in his crate all night. Chi Chi will stand patiently in the bathtub, but he does not suffer the indignity of a bath quietly. He absolutely loves being brushed, and will happily fall asleep in your lap as you brush his tail or belly. He is friendly and sweet, a big kisser, and he greets everyone with tail wags and woos. He is coming along well with his leash training and has learned how to "sit", and he is learning "drop it." He may not have been treated very kindly by his previous owners, because he is very sensitive to raised voices, loud noises, and sudden movements over his head. He responds very well to patient, positive training methods and will do anything to please you. He loves de-stuffing stuffies and has a favorite stuffy that he likes to carry around everywhere. Chi Chi is a sweet, loving dog that needs someone who will love him back just as much. Please note, that at this time, Husky House does not adopt out of the immediate NY/NJ area. The minimum age for adopters is 23 years old. You must reside within a one hour drive from either NYC or from Bridgewater NJ. We DO NOT do long distance adoptions because we do home visits prior to the pup going to its new home. We do not adopt out Siberian puppies (under 1 year of age) unless you have prior Siberian experience. We DO NOT place in homes that rely on the invisible/electric fence as the sole means of containment. If your yard is fenced in - your fence must be at least 5 feet tall.
